Ollantaytambo and Urubamba

We headed back down to the valley, and drove through a village where the road was lined with women with cooked guinea-pigs ("cuys") waving them at passing cars

After lunch we headed to Ollantaytambo, the site of a large and impressive collection of Incan ruins - temple, terraces, storage areas and defences. Here it poured with rain as we explored.

We finished the day at Urubamba in the Villa Urubamba. This was a great place to relax- sparse rooms set around magnificent gardens, in the bottom of the valley surrounded by mountains being lit by the evening sun. And a big friendly dog called Kia!
